Mixing African prints or Ankara prints as you may know it has been my pastime. Like I blogged earlier last week about tips on mixing prints, I followed the principles and guess what I got the perfect combo!
My Ankara jacket has similar colour with my shorts so, I decided to match it with my black body suit top and voila it came out really nice.
Take a look!
P.S: If you want similar Ankara Jackets with your fabric and you are in Nigeria, it costs N5,000. or indicate your interest on my Instagram page/Whatsapp

Mixing Ankara prints is something I have come to love. Although many are still trying to get it right, I can say reluctantly that it’s that easy to mix Ankara prints.
To get it right, here are few ideas to consider;
- Consider the colours before you match. E.g. If you have a blue themed Ankara print, think about the colours that can match blue. Colours like grey, yellow, red.
- Patterns can be quite confusing so deal with the basics. Things like a big floral patterns would match with small floral patterns.
- Let your desired style be simple and chic: It would be better to sew a two-piece with different Ankara print than trying to “patch” a dress with another print (it could work but it may not turn out well).
Let’s see how these fashionistas are bringing their A-game with the mixed prints!

Tgif! I really don’t have much to say today but let the pictures speak a 1000 words. February started out really tough but came through in the end. It’s month of March and I’m being “all shades of broke”.
I made a list of everything I needed in life and prioritised but hey, a girl can never have enough. So, less words today so I can go on ahead and figure this “broke-cation”kinda thing..LOL
ME WHEN I THOUGHT I COULD PULL OFF MY BROTHER’S RETRO TOP AND MY BOY-SHORTS
WELL, DID I PULL IT OFF THOUGH?
ME, WHEN I DIDN’T PUT UP THIS GINGHAM DRESS SHIRT POST, PLS DON’T SHADE ME..LOL
ME, WHEN I REALISED I HAD LOW KEY ADDed MORE TO THE BUTT-CHEEK SQUAD..LOL!
SO, WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO AND HOW HAS THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2017 BEEN FOR YOU?
Nigerian fashion industry is the next big thing to boost the economy. The fashion industry as it is now is meeting the international standards. Out of the many rising brands, I find a few that tickles my fancy!
I’m not all out for the brands that have made it to the top but brands that are on their way there. Let’s dive in!
RÉ LINE by ORIRE OMATSOLA
I find this brand very interesting. I love everything about their collection at the LFDW (Lagos Fashion Design Week). What attracts you to their brand is the print patterns or what seems like “tribal” inscriptions on the fabric. By this alone, you know a RE LINE brand when you see it.
I love the story behind the collection, it’s a bit of androgyny but still soft and playful. Their style is quite simple, comfortable, cool and chic. For the active woman, you get something of comfort and class and for the man on the move, there is something contemporary, neat and classy.
The colour combination is everything! From soft pastel colours to bright and bold colours. I love everything about this brand and I see them flying high! Take a look at some of the designs!

2. ERILYN BY TEMITOPE
I can simply say if you love corporate fashion and still want to look cool in them, then Erilyn by Temitope is your go-to brand for that. I love the concept behind every piece especially when she combines African print fabrics with plain fabrics.
Her style is definitely modern classic fashion and it’s timeless too!. Throwback to the time she styled Ozinna Anumudu in a print-on-print classic style. Absolutely on point! I have been looking forward to the day I’d wear an Erilyn fabric. Let me stick to the ones I can afford for now…LOL. Did you also know she recently extended her brand to the kids. It’s called ERILYN KIDS.
This post has been long overdue! I attended the first blogger’s forum which was meant to be a masterclass organised by COLOURS AND GREY. It’s a bloggers community designed to help bloggers grow, network with each other, share ideas and connect brands with bloggers.
For my readers who aren’t Nigerians, I don’t know if you have been to a blogger’s forum or how a bloggers forum is held in your country (I’d love you to share in the comment section..thanks!)
I must confess I arrived REALLY LATE because of the day and time (Sunday).Anyways I bumped in when the sessions were on (Alice, the organizer was talking about Digital Marketing). The event was held at the CAPITAL SQUARE, IKOYI LAGOS.
We had a great time because learning was s much fun! We learnt about SEO, CAMPAIGNS, FACEBOOK ADS, EMAIL MARKETING, etc.We had a sumptuous meal sponsored by HEYFOODIE . I’m glad I met with other bloggers like Grace Gigi, (she runs Epiphany29, go check it out!). I also met Levy Braide (She is also the Blackwriter, check out her page please!) and a few other bloggers.
I’m glad I pushed myself out to learnt those stuff, it was simply amaZING! Oh..did I mention the goody bag I received? I got a dress from THE INDULGENCE COLLECTION and some lingerie from BRIEF ESSENTIALS. In essence, I had a great time and relax more on Sundays!
If you have attended a bloggers forum, I’d love to hear from you!
Till next time, XOXO!
